Emily Berkowitz, Psy.D.

Dr. Emily Berkowitz is a clinical psychologist with substantial experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.

Dr. Berkowitz obtained her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Binghamton majoring in psychology and applied behavioral analysis. Dr. Berkowitz then moved to Boston and received her Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D) at William James College with a focus on treating children and their families. Her APA internship was completed with the Brenner Center Assessment & Consultation Center and Youth & Family Psychotherapy Services in Newton, MA.

Throughout her doctoral training, Dr. Berkowitz received extensive training in providing evaluations for Autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, learning disabilities, and comorbid mental health concerns. She also received clinical training in working with parents to address a variety of behavioral concerns in young children including disruptive behaviors (noncompliance/tantrums, verbal/physical aggression), anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances.

Dr. Berkowitz has worked in a wide range of settings with individuals across the lifespan. She uses a flexible and comprehensive approach to conducting evaluations and prioritizes spending time with families during feedback appointments to ensure families are left with a strong understanding of the results and confidence in the continuation of care and appropriate next steps. While currently focused primarily in testing, Dr. Berkowitz carries a strong background in consulting with schools and outpatient providers, parent management training, and conducting weekly outpatient therapy with families with the use of evidence-based protocols.
